Sandalford Wines
Sandalford Winery is one of Western Australia’s oldest and largest privately owned wineries. It is the largest commercial winery on your tour, providing wine not just in WA, but nationally and internationally. It sits impressively on the banks of the Swan River, and has won multiple prizes at the WA Tourism Awards.
How Sandalford performs its wine-making is a closely guarded secret, with much tradition and modern equipment combining to create the top quality drops you will sample.
Sandalford Winery is keen to pour you generous tastings of wine and let you explore the stunning surrounds during your visit. Step outside and soak up the stunning vineyard views that overlook a gorgeous lake. You can also sit and relax in the alfresco beer garden beneath intertwined vines.
Enjoy wine and cheese as the host talks you through each wine and gives you handy wine tasting tips. Sandalford also has an extensive gift shop where you can find unique local produce, wine-themed gift ideas, and outstanding art work and homewares.
Swanbrook Winery
At Swanbrook Winery, exclusively sourced WA grapes and fruits are used to produce distinctive wines on location. The wines at Swanbrook are designed with a variety of wine-drinkers in mind. Their range includes wines for the average day-to-day wine lover, to the more refined tastes of an experienced wine connoisseur.
Swanbrook also houses a unique facility making fresh nougat, which is of course offered in generous samples to visitors!
You can also browse the beautiful gift shop at Swanbrook – find a wonderful gift or something special for yourself!
Olive Farm Wines
Owned by the Urisich family for over 80 years, Olive Farm Wines has a long history of success in the wine-making industry. Olive Farm Wines has pioneered amazing contemporary architecture and embraced innovative wine-making methods to produce some of the most unique wines in the Valley.
The winery is set on eight acres of prime land, with a long straight driveway leading you through the beautiful vineyard to the cellar door. During your visit you can view the wine-making process through a 180-degree viewing area.
The building itself is cut into the side of a hill, creating a truly unique structure. You will see that the top level is used for processing of grapes and production, whilst the bottom level is used for storage of wine, barrels, packing materials, and vineyard equipment.
The building has received numerous awards including the Building Designers Association Best Commercial Interior in Australia in 2007, and winner of the Best Building Designed for Entertainment, Hospitality or Sport.
Olive Farm Wines will take you through a diverse range of wine styles that cater for a variety of different palettes. You can also purchase wines at the cellar door on your tour.
Sittella Winery
The last stop of the winery leg of the tour brings you to Sittella Winery. Sittella is nestled on top of rolling hills and at the end of a gentle winding road near the upper reaches of the Swan River. Let your eyes follow the vines down to the base of the hill, where you will find a gorgeous lake with an impressive gazebo overlooking it. The area is teeming with local wildlife, ducks, and birds. In fact, the winery itself is named after a tiny native bird found along the Swan River, the Sittella.
Sittella is one of the newer wineries in the region, established in 1998. The setting is tranquil and relaxing, with guests also enjoying vineyard views from the veranda restaurant.
Sittella has also won 13 medals for wines entered into the Swan Valley Wine Awards in 2007.
Whistler’s Chocolate Company
Depending on the day of your tour, your driver may instead take you to the just-as-delicious Whistler’s Chocolate Company. Here you will find a range of chocolate products to whet your appetite. You can indulge in sorbet and chocolate tastings that will leave you begging for more!
Whistler’s offers visitors not only chocolate, but also ice-cream, unique handmade fudge varieties like no other, delicious macaroons, hot and cold drinks, and many more handmade sweet delights. Check out the display tank in the centre of the venue, featuring an underwater scene made entirely of chocolate!
You will be excited by what could be the largest beer garden and outdoor play area in the Swan Valley! Sit and relax in the open green surrounds, and let your taste-buds loose on delicious treats from the store.
